David’s documentary! The City’s Champions!

In light of all the news and media stories on suicide, depression, and how to ask for help, we wanted to offer a platform/show to address some of these issues and how to spot signs of this in your friends and loved ones.

We have all been touched by mental illness, anxiety, and depression, in some way and on this episode of Live With Cindy, we dove deeper into these issues.

We welcomed David Pradel to the show!

You can follow and reach out to David online @davidpradelphotos and view his films on YouTube by searching “David Pradel”.

David Pradel is a college television and film student at San Diego State University. Born and raised in San Diego, David has had a passion for capturing the best moments through the lens since High School where he took a journalism class. After graduating, David decided to continue down the journalism and media path at San Diego City College.

David has worked as an assistant video editor for the PlayOn! Sports Network, a high school live streaming sports media company. In 2013, David also worked as a sports reporter, and video editor for The Beast Brief, where he got the opportunity to interview star athletes and celebrities at the 2013 & 2014 ESPYS awards. He has produced several news, sports and entertainment videos about the San Diego community and also works as a freelance sports and events photographer outside the classroom.

During his final year at San Diego City College, David spent most of his time working with the student-produced newscast called Newscene, where he reported and produced news packages.

David found himself in the basketball gym with his camera following the mens basketball team during the 2017 season. That year for the mens basketball team just so happened to be a historic one as they won the state championship, however, after the season, a player on the team took his own life. The loss hit the community hard, and while having a passion for journalism and producing news videos, David decided to put together a feature-length documentary film about the championship season.

The film is an emotional journey highlighting the glory and pain of the 2017 season for the mens basketball team at City College. David’s personal attachment to the story gives the film a unique perspective on the season, and it was part of the healing process for David after trying to cope with the loss of his new friend, and while also dealing with his own mental health struggles the year before capturing the teams’ championship season.
