We welcome Tonya Mantooth Ceo & Creative Director from the San Diego Film Festival to the show.

Tonya Talks with us about the film line up which was just announced as well as the some of the new things they have launched this year including the first ever San Diego Intl ShortsFest — a true celebration of the Short Film genre.

Thanks to the Festival’s Virtual Village, they were able to bring together almost a hundred Filmmakers from around the world.

The only real place you can see short films is at the festivals so this is something we were really excited about!

We cannot wait to see Spencer with Kristen Stewart which premieres on October 15th!  Kristen Stewart is already getting OSCAR BUZZ about this role!

About the San Diego Film Festival:

The San Diego International Film Festival is produced by the San Diego Film Foundation and is the region’s premier
showcase for outstanding U.S. and International independent filmmaking.

Celebrating their 20th Anniversary this October, the festival will include a hybrid of in-person and virtual events. In-person Festival Events and Film Screenings will take place in some of our city’s most beautiful locations – including Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts and the San Diego Museum of Art, The Catamaran Resort on Mission Bay and on board the USS Midway.

Patrons can also access over 150 films On Demand in the Festival’s Virtual Village as well as Q&As with Filmmakers from around the world.

Tonya Mantooth, CEO/Artistic Director shared, “As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, I have really reflected on the great strides that have been made within the film industry. There has been a significant increase in female and BIPOC Filmmakers as well as a larger examination of global social topics. We are thrilled to provide a platform to showcase that change.

This year the Festival received over 3000 film submissions representing over 65 countries. We are excited to be curating one of the strongest film line-ups in our 20-year history including both independent films and studio premieres.”

The Festival runs from October 14-October 24th 2021.
