The Pulse gets an exclusive with Jurassic 5 stars Akil the MC and Chali 2na to discuss their upcoming new tour kicking off at Humphreys Concerts in San Diego. We talk their 6-8 year break, what pulled them back together, all their fabulous success over their 20 year career and much much more! These guys are amazing and really fun to be around.

The band reunited for Coachella in 2013 after a 6-8 year hiatus. The group’s six original members – Akil, Zaakir, Marc 7, DJ Nu-Mark, Chali 2na, and Cut Chemist – then embarked on a yearlong string of sold-out concerts and festivals in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. In 2014, the band announced its 20th Anniversary “Word Of Mouth Reunion Tour,” which appropriately ignited the next chapter of Jurassic 5’s legacy. The group delivered an intimate set of classics from their storied catalog to faithful fans across the country. After a short break for solo projects, the group is back and in top form for 2015, having toured Australia, New Zealand and Japan, and are now returning to the U.S. and Europe.

On Record Store Day (April 18), J5 celebrated the 15th anniversary of their debut album, Quality Control, with a limited-edition vinyl box set. The package sold out in one day. The J5 renaissance continues…Check out their tour and go see them! Thank you to Single Dress for providing me with my dress, styled by Ali Levine.
