We were so excited to get to spend 4 days at The Villa del Palmar Resort at the Islands of Loreto, Mexico. It is the first “million star resort” and let me tell you, it is fabulous! As soon as I started reading about this self contained exclusive vacation spot on the Sea of Cortez, I knew I was going to fall in love with it. There is literally something to do for everyone.
From the moment the plane landed and we saw the gorgeous eastern coast of the Baja peninsula overlooking Danzante Island (one of five in the region) we were in heaven! Flanked by the rugged Sierra de la Giganta range, the Villa del Palmar is the first and only resort to occupy one of the Gulf of California’s last virgin coastlines. One look at the sparkling aqua water and you start feeling less stressed!
The resort has a great wellness aspect to it. From the food they serve, to the juice bar in the gym, they really cater to your needs. The latest installment of the resort’s Wellness program is inspired by a holistic way of life, which practices divination and healing, as well as encourages guests to nurture harmony with the spirit, with the environment and with one another.
I am 100% into the whole healing and ritual thing and when I read about this I knew I needed to book some one on one time with this holistic healer. Lord knows I had some toxic energy I needed to let go of and they were going to do a cleansing treatment!
Can we talk about the spa! The 39,000 square-foot award-winning Sabila Spa, which means “Aloe Vera” in Spanish, embraces holistic therapies that are known for balancing one’s mind body and spirit, along with traditional European spa treatments. They also have a full gym which I took full advantage of each morning!
Guests can kick off their journey with a welcome seated massage and a hand washing ritual to wash away stresses, then have the option to partake in a healing rituals with the resort’s new resident holistic healer, Iván, who is known for his holistic rituals and treatments, such as Janzu aquatic therapy, traditional Mexican medicine derived from natural healers, Ashtanga yoga, and more.
We were lucky to be able to do a morning sun salutation session with Iván at this gorgeous resort. We were charmed by him as soon as we met him. He had a calming presence and I felt lighter as soon as the session started. I highly recommend this experience and also take a yoga class on the beach! It is breathtaking.
Holistic sessions included in the package are healing water sessions, in which guests learn how to flow freely and clarify their lives, sensorama, which offers a unique experience focused on getting back in touch with nature and guests’ senses, and an aloe vera ritual to soothe the skin.
The resort also offers everything from mud detox treatments to ritual blessing, and earthing to balance stone massage. Sign me up!!!
Travelers can take a short flight from LAX on Alaska Airlines or from Calgary, Canada aboard WestJet, Canada’s most-preferred airline, with increased service starting in February 2016. If you live in San Diego, you can now cross over the 390 foot pedestrian Cross border Bridge linking Tijuana’s A.L. Airport directly to Otay Mesa and take a flight directly to Loreto Mexico. Then it is just a short bus trip to Villa Del Palmar! How cool is that.
I also want you to have access to a special rate for being a follower of the Pulse. Villa del Palmar is offering a special rate of $119.00 USD per night in a deluxe studio suite, plus taxes and gratuities. The rate is normally $184.00.
