On Friday, October 6th we had the pleasure of sitting down with Jessica Boranian and Ashley DeMatos talking about their fabulous “Self-Love” event they hosted on October 14th at the Sunset Temple from 9-4:00PM!
Ashley is the CEO and Jessica is on the team of the Women Empowering Women Organization.
Founded in December 2014 by Ashley DeMatos, the Women Empowering Organization has grown to impact 1000’s of women from all over the world. Ashley is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Women Empowering Women Organization, designer of the partnered Mentor Programs and creator Women Empowering Women Event. It has been her honor to cultivate this amazing organization to what it is today. With the help of supporters, partnerships and volunteers WEWO has already made a global impact.
We learned what inspired her to create this organization and all about the fabulous events she is hosting every year. You can get involved or volunteer with this organization by working with them on their mentor program or attend their free women empowerment sessions held at Hera Hub in Mission Valley the 1st and third Monday every month at 6:30PM.
We also sat down with Lisa Rodriguez and Manny Rodriguez, producers of the Film Butterfly Caught. This movie premiered at SD FILM FESTIVAL that weekend. First-time filmmaker, Manny Rodriguez Jr., who has worked in the studio system for over 15 years, won the Chris Brinker Award which was presented at the Variety Night of the Stars Tribute at SDIFF.
The film won the award for BEST ENSEMBLE FILM as well as BEST US NARRATIVE FILM at Laughlin International Film festival.
The movie is about 3 three aspiring actresses who set out to break into the cut-throat world of acting in Los Angeles. As each young woman is forced to face her deepest fears and insecurities, they all discover the lengths to which they will go to fight against failure. The film offers a glimpse into the darker side of Hollywood, exposes the seduction of fame, and captures the thirst for relevance in a city that cycles through talent and destroys ambitions.
The lead in the movie is played by actress, Jess Jacobs, who was born and raised in San Diego. She is the daughter of Qualcomm chairman Paul Jacobs.
We loved learning about the inspiration for this film and all about the production of it! For more information and to see where you can watch this film go here!
