We had an amazing time vacationing in Cancun, Mexico at the Westin Lagunamar.
It only took us 3 years to take a real, non working vacation but it was well worth it.
We love the Westin as they are a dog friendly resort and always have the best accommodations.
This luxurious beachfront resort in the heart of Cancun also has full kitchenettes so you can cook all your own food if you are as finicky and picky as we are about meals.
The layout is great, with a huge bath and a shower which attaches to the bedroom area. The view from our deck was gorgeous too!
The pool is gorgeous and there are 2 large ones at the resort to choose from. One has an infinity pool and is adults only and one is a family friendly pool.
We even scored finding an awesome pink flamingo to float around in!
Our favorite spot was the beach and the private palapas on the beach! The water is a gorgeous turquoise blue and very warm!
Israel bodyboarded everyday!
We love to get our fitness on and there are two gyms at this resort.
We worked out every day and even took a yoga class on the terrace which we highly recommend. They have a series of activities for free every day and many are fitness related or fun things like s’mores night!
The activities you can do close to the resort are endless.
You can explore the Mayan Ruins, go to the local island nearby Isla Mujeres which you get to by ferry. You can also take a day trip to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
We took an amazing sunset cruise on a romantic dinner boat in the Lagoon called the Columbus. We had surf and turf and all you could drink cocktails while being serenaded by an amazing saxophone artist. It is very intimate and we had only 20 other couples on board with us.
When it gets dark, the staff has all the couples come to the top of the boat, which they call the dance floor to slow dance! So romantic and cute!
You can also be lazy like us and just kick it at the resort. They do have a small Mayan Ruin on site to explore:)
Oh and did I mention the ferris wheel right in front of the hotel? Super cool!
We loved the food and drinks at the hotel. We highly recommend ordering from the Westin’s specialty cocktail menu. They make the best drinks and not a ton of sugar added to them. The martini’s and margaritas are YUMMY!
One of our favorites bars in the hotel was the Duna Sports Bar.
You can enjoy classic sports bar cuisine-from team-sized appetizers to burgers-beachside, where LED TVs with surround sound showcase in-demand games while an outdoor fire pit provides a memorable sunset setting.

Some tips for the trip.
There is an amazing market on the bottom floor of the resort to buy groceries and coffee and any items you might have forgotten on the trip. It is a little more expensive then going offsite to the local supermarket down the street.
Obviously you pay for the convenience of everything being right in your hotel and not carrying bags of food too far! If you are on a budget we recommend the following.
Walk down to the supermarket down the street called Grocery Store Soriana which is literally right down the street about 1/2 mile from the hotel.
We cooked every day and saved money on the trip.
Cindy’s kitchen
We also recommend for wine, champagne, and beer at great prices walk down to La Europea which is right past the mall across the street from the hotel. You can buy a bottle of Moet for much less than at the hotel.
Warning: DO NOT USE THE ATM IN THE HOTEL YOU WILL PAY 30% MORE AND CRAZY FEES!
The sunsets here are gorgeous and we recommend you go to the Lagoon side to watch them!
We highly recommend this place and vow to ourselves it will NOT be another 3 years until we vacation again!
See you soon Cancun! #pulseapproved
